FAQ's

I heard that B vitamins come from coal tar and petroleum. Your label lists the names of such B vitamins. Are you adding synthetically made B vitamins to this supplement?

No. With modern processing and manufacturing methods, it has been possible for many years now to extract naturally occurring B vitamins from whole-food sources. These extracted B vitamins make up only 5% of the formula. The rest are from whole food sources.

Why are the names of the whole-food extract B vitamins in B Complex IQ the same as synthetic B vitamins?

Vitamin names simply denote their chemical composition. There are various forms of all vitamins. Whether natural or synthetic, the chemical name is the same for vitamins of the same configuration, no matter their source.

I heard that “methylcobalamin/folic acid/pyridoxine hydrochloride” is only the synthetic form of B12/folate/B6.

All commercially available “synthetic” B12 actually comes from bacteria via a fermentation process. No B12 in any supplement these days is a petroleum-derived chemical. The same is true for B6. It’s much easier and cheaper to produce this way. Our methylcobalamin comes from food, as this form is present in nature. Please read this article for more information: Where Do B Vitamins Come From?

I have the MTHFR mutation. Will this formula work for me?

Before starting any new supplements, you should always work with a healthcare professional regarding your individual needs. It is estimated that upwards of 60% of the population have this mutation, but there are various places in various genes wherein the mutations can occur. Your unique make-up may or may not impact your ability to metabolize certain B vitamins. This is why it’s important to always work with a knowledgeable healthcare professional regarding your unique health needs.

I read that B12 in plants is pseudo-B12. Is this true for the B12 in your formula?

With modern extraction methods, we are able to isolate specific compounds. We isolate and extract the active forms of B12 and use food sources with high amounts of active B12 in them.

Can I open the capsule and take this formula?

Yes, it can be added to water or juice and taken.
