Cod Liver IQ (derived from Icelandic Cod) provides a natural source of the fat-soluble vitamins A (retinol) and D.
Details
Our cod liver oil supplement, as the name implies, comes directly from the liver of Icelandic codfishes and is a specific type of fish oil. Like regular fish oil, it’s high in omega-3 fatty acids which provide many great health benefits for your heart, skin, and brain.* However, Cod liver is also high in naturally occurring vitamin A and vitamin D, giving cod liver oil an incredibly nutritious profile.*
Cod Liver Oil can help to:
- Enhance Natural Retinol & Vitamin D Intake*
- Support Immune Health*
- Promote Heart & Liver Health*
Cod Liver IQ does not contain any adulterated or synthetic forms of Vitamin A and D as many other fish oils do in an attempt to get supra-physiologic doses of these naturally occurring ingredients. We believe that vitamin A and D are meant to be consumed together and in the ratio nature intended, which is 10:1.

FAQ's
What species of cod are used for your CLO?
Atlantic cod caught off the coast of Iceland
Are synthetic vitamins added to your cod liver oil?
No, the vitamin A and vitamin D content of our Cod Liver IQ are 100% natural and unadulterated.
Heat processing can damage natural vitamins. How are you processing your oil?
We use a proprietary, very low-heat extraction method that preserves the oil’s integrity and naturally occurring vitamins.
Does it need to be refrigerated?
No, the vitamins are stable at temperatures far above what the ambient temperature reaches, even in desert areas. However, if you prefer to keep it refrigerated, it will not damage the contents in any way.
What is the source of glycerine used in the gel capsule?
Our glycerine is naturally sourced from palm oil. There are no corn derivatives in this formula.
How big are the softgels?
Please reference the photo of the Cod Liver IQ softgel being held in hand above. We are able to offer more naturally occurring vitamins A and D in a smaller capsule than any other brand.
How many milligrams of oil are in each soft gel?
This can be found on the supplement facts panel – 415mg per capsule.
What’s the difference between CLO and Krill Oil or other fish oils?
Krill oil and fish oil are used as a source of omega-3 fats. While cod liver oil contains some omega-3s, the primary purpose of this type of oil is its naturally high levels of vitamins A and D. If you’re looking for a good omega-3 supplement, we recommend our Krill IQ – it contains more bioavailable omega-3s than fish oil and is rich in choline and astaxanthin.
Should I be worried about mercury in CLO?
Cod is a smaller, shorter-lived fish. From a dietary standpoint, it is not considered a high-mercury fish. Cod liver oil is also low in mercury. Third-party testing we do on all products also confirms that CLO contains little to no mercury.
Does CLO have a fishy taste?
Everyone is different, but most people do not experience fish aftertastes or burps from cod liver oil like they do from fish oil.
What is the gelatin source used in the capsule?
All of our gelatin-based capsules use beef gelatin.
Can I open the softgel and take this formula?
This is an option, though it is unlikely to know the exact intake amount, as some oil will likely remain in the gel capsule.
